Fic: Like a Broken Watch (Sylar/Mohinder)

Sep 14, 2009 22:33

Sylar has heard it suggested that in five billion years the sun will expand enough to envelope the first four planets in the solar system. His body and brain would burn with the earth and hopefully his consciousness would not continue, dispersed among the fusion reactors of a giant red star.

That makes five billion years that he might live - not ( Read more... )

You have such a gorgeous style. It's absolutely riveting and gut wrenching from start to finish. The last line especially was absolutely killer. :)

Loved it :) That was beautiful. xoxo

Every fic you write leaves me utterly speechless, but this time just…

Wow.

I (…usually) just hate fics like this, I don’t buy into the idea that someone would be fixated on another for hundreds of years, but this story completely captivated me. You find the perfect words and rhythm and keep the romantic prose to a perfect min. ;)

Seriously, you’re an amazing author. I really truly never thought someone could pull off a story like this but… you really did.

Your comment made me smile a lot. Thank you! :)

I can see how it would strain suspension of disbelief. Sylar becoming fixated on Mohinder after his death has become a kind of a recurring theme for me; this is the direction in which I initially envisioned that premise being taken, but I resisted writing it because I wasn't sure that it could be pulled off either. Thanks for giving it a chance, despite your skepticism.

This fic has an incredibly intense quality to it and the obsession Sylar has for Mohinder here feels like an extension of the deliberation he can focus on those things he holds dear, regards as worthy, covets without remorse. It's like all of that has been transferred and transfixed onto Mohinder and in a way, with the notion of living forever, why wouldn't he focus on that one persona in particular who comes bound with meaning for him?

I like the way you delve into Sylar's mind here and the way you jump around with time, while keeping this one constant at the centre.

There's both a dark and enlightening feel to it.

Thank you! I thought that the combination of immortality and time travel would be an interesting way to highlight those focused and obsessive parts of Sylar's personality, as it's a combination that, without those traits, could be really conducive to listlessness. So I'm glad that that's what sticks out for you.

Thanks again for the awesome comment. :)

Oh my gosh. This was lovely. Sad, a bit unsettling but lovely. I usually don't like fics like this because they're so darn depressing but I didn't feel crushed at the end of this so...bravo! :)

I will now check out your other stories. I'm hoping there's a lot. *crosses fingers
