Lines, Lines, Everwhere Lines

What time is everyone starting to line up for the panels? I'm going to go to the Dr. Who and the Torchwood ones. I was thinking getting there about 2 hours ahead of time? Thankfully Comic Con has the policy of not clearing rooms between events.

I know I want to get in line for the panels.
But i also want to get in the autograph line.
WHAT DO I DO!?

I think 2hrs is good.
But if they don't clear the rooms, does this mean you get a better shot at getting INTO the room if you go to the panel BEFORE the Doctor Who panel?
(I think I heard it was Stan Lee, so he'll definitely draw a big crowd.)

Last year, I went into whatever panel was before Torchwood. But yeah, I'm leaving for the con at 8 a.m. XD. And I'll already have my tickets, thanks to preview night :P.

This is Ballroom 20. The Star Wars fanfilm festival is in there. So is the masquerade. Futurama was there last year and Samuel L. Jackson was there the year before. It's freaking huge. Everyone will get a seat, but most people will only be able to watch it happen on the TV screens in the back half of the room.

I'm with ya. Gettin' my badge on Preview Night.
I want a close seat. But I also want a tix for autos.
Oooo..what to do..what to do...

Oh -- how's the temperature in there? Better to stay in shorts and t-shirt? Or definitely bring something to keep you warm cuz they blast the AC? Any other suggestions?

The con floor will be hooot. Hundreds of thousands of people in one room is like that. The panels, on the other hand , are air-conditioned. It's just plain not worth carrying a heavy jacket all day if you're not going to use it save for panels and later in the evening. Light jacket is good, something you can tie around your waist.

A little info to help hobbitsandkilts July 21 2008, 01:14:27 UTC
I hope this helps

Comic Con does not clear the room between panels, which is both good and bad. Good if you have multi panels in one room. Bad because sometimes you can not get a good seat. As others have said Ballroom 20 is huge. It is the second biggest room (the first is Hall H)

2 hrs is a good time to start to head over, sometimes they will not let you line up, this depends where the line is. This only is a problem usually on the sales floor, since it creates fire hazards. I have had this happen before.

I would bring a light jacket the AC is freezing till people show up in BR 20. Plus you are gonna need it when the sun goes down. I would bring a snack and something to do. Also they do give you bathroom passes once you are in the room. Just in case anyone wanted to know.

Trying to get both a seat and auto tickets sometimes one can not get both. If you are by yourself this is next to impossible. You might have to give up one, me personally I'm more going to the panel.

Again I hope this helps

I was thinking about getting there between 8:30 and 9. I'll already have my badge from preview night. Do you know if it's possible to get let up to line up at 20 before Comic-Con opens?

I know folks were in line by 6 am or so last year for Heroes last year. The line was a quarter mile long by 8:00 when I got there.

Not sure if it will still be case this year, but last year as long as you found the right door, it was pretty easy to get in and upstairs before the Con started.

I'll be going in early like I did last year and taking a biiig book.

Oh snap. In that case, I'll get there at around 8:15. The Doctor Who and Torchwood people only come to America, um, never, so it's a pretty big deal.

Thanks for the tips!

No problem. My butt was firmly planted last year for the panels I wanted, so I learned what to do and not do.

They had the Stargate Panels in 20 last year and getting there before the first panel of the day was a pretty good call. I was about 3 rows back from the stage.

I was surprised at how fast TW filled up in the smaller room (I heard there were people turned away) but again I showed up two panels before it started to make sure I had a good seat.

I will say that it's a bit easier since I'm not big on getting autographs in the first place though, I don't have to make the choice between seeing the panel and getting the ticket for the autograph.
