It seemed odd to Chloe that out of all of the places she could have come to think, she picked her office in the Planet. It would have been one thing if she was researching a lead, but this was a personal letter she had to write - write, not even type ( Read more... )

There's something wrong with Chloe. Sure, Clark knows he bugs her a little more than he should and that she's stressed out at work with the new boss and everything, but she refused to help him. She's never done that before.

This, combined with J'onn and Kara having their own version of the Shootout at the OK Corral in his kitchen that morning was making him just a little worried. It wasn't until Lana of all people told him about Dr. Curtis Knox that the pieces started falling into place, and Clark knew he needed to find Chloe before she did something stupid.

Dangerous.

Both.

It didn't take him long to figure out where she was.

She was almost surprised to see him back so soon. It was getting close to closing at the Planet and not many people were around. Not many people also had the habit of making the sorts of entrances Clark did.

Chloe flashed him a small, fake smile when he entered. There wasn't any enthusiasm on her face, though. He was probably back about the crystal.

It was times like this that Chloe wondered if she would ever be more than a search engine for him.

"Hey," he says softly, noticing that she still appears to be in a mood. He only hopes he can determine what that mood is, and why it's here.

"How's your article going about Dr. Knox?"

He wanted something, didn't he? That was the only thing that could make sense in her mind as to why he was suddenly curious in her work.

"Uh, he's doing some interesting research," Chloe replied with a shrug, "but I don't -- I don't believe there's a story there."

This wasn't something she wanted to discuss.
