I liked all of these, especially the idea that the Ancients are both less competent and more selfish than they'd like everyone to think. But I loved this: But he thinks maybe a night of lying in bed planning it might do them just as much good., which felt like John reaching for something he's pretty sure he'll never get, but being okay with that thought.
