The Cover girl makeup

Dec 03, 2010 12:27

I cannot be the only one who desperately wants whatever makeup the models display in their final cover girl ads.  I loved the fruit spritzers lip gloss from some time ago.  I hate the falsies mascara...it  clumps like no tomorrow.  Any of you rush out to get the makeup too?

Covergirl tests on animals and knowing that, I can't use their products because it gets on my conscience :\

(But tbh, it's hard to pick out which brands are bunny approved because they're probably owned by a larger company that DOES test on animals or they claim they don't test on animals because the finished product is not tested on animals, but it is tested along the way.)

I know they had to be before, but I don't know about now but I also know that products need to get FDA approval. Companies can rely on things that had previously been tested on animals and proved to be safe (Idk if this counts as animal testing), there's also in vitro tissue models, clinical patch testing. Some companies also claim to do only human testing.

It's complicated.

It's really semantics to say a product hasn't been test on animals, in my opinion.
ia.

As for pharmaceuticals, I'm on the fence about the whole thing. I understand both sides and I can't pick one. I understand that immense benefits for health care and the ethics. I feel like it all comes down to whether or not an individual views human life as the same animals or if there is a hierarchy and whether or not they believe in "the greater good".

Oooh that's very cool. It's good to hear from someone who does this for a living, instead of opinions from people who read extremist articles on the internet or just talk out of their asses (like me possibly :P). What kind of procedures are involved in testing? If that can all be explained simply in an LJ comment =p

I second that, it's really interesting to hear about the process from someone who does it professionally. Thanks for sharing.
