People just see it as: "OMG THEY'RE SO CUTE DON'T KILL THEM THAT'S CRUEL!" It's annoying.
I'm not sure it's true, but I've heard there's a shitload of them. Plus, the harp seal is not even anywhere near even being endangered. People overreact. Farms slaughter chickens, pigs and cows daily. Not just between November and May.
There are a lot of them, and they populate fast, and if they overpopulate, then they endanger other species, like the codfish.
And, coming from someone who lives in Newfoundland and has a large amount of family in the fishery and seal hunters in the family, I wouldn't believe much of what is said on the anti-seal hunt websites =/ a lot of it is hugely exaggerated.
I love your answer. Why is it okay to slaughter farm animals, and slaughter animals for leather on all of our shoes, but ugh ummmm not okay to kill seals?
People only want the cute little babies to be saved, but they don't care about endangered insects and plenty of other endangered species.

But hey... at least he's supporting something he believes in? Or.... is against. However you want to word that.

Celebrities plus this issue generally makes me rage.
I don't necessarily support the seal hunt, but... so many people rarely have their facts straight.
