I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and a friend of mine brought this up as well...but do you think that Tyra and co should really send someone home after the first photoshoot

I think that's where they figure out, "Okay, is there anyone who just won't be able to take this?" after the "real" world of modeling (you know, as real as you can get on ANTM - but probably a bit more real than the glamorous fantasies the girls had before stepping onto the shoot)..

I would assume the preshow promo photos are taken before the first elimination, just because we don't see them done on the show doesn't mean that Tyra and the judges haven't seen them at the first elimination.
But I do think it would be fair to have one non-elimination photoshoot, and give them advice and see if that helps.

I honestly think they know who their top 3 will be from the start, and they manipulate things so those three get there. I came to this conclusion based on the way they will let one girl slide on something (say, her attitude) and then kick another girl for the same reason 2 eliminations down the road. Also, keeping in mind the whole Tyra/Saleisha/Jaslene conspiracies.

it seems like they always get rid of a girl who's "pretty, but not model pretty" first, which makes me wonder why they even cast these girls in the first place.

i dunno. generally i agree with their first-boot decisions, but also wonder if a couple of those girls got a raw deal.

You cant afford to take a bad picture in the first photoshoot, or else you'll be gone.

Not that bad, but not really great either. I can see why she went home -- she was just too pretty and commercial for me. Plus, she looked too much like Saleisha to ever win anyway.
