Suggestions for alternate host?

Frankly, I think Tyra has some repressed self-hatred towards African Americans. She has more than once said she didn't want to continue casting "black bitches," and yet in the recent 2-episode clips show, the amount of cat fights shown between exclusively black contestants as opposed to anyone else was staggering. I believe this is a commentary on Tyra's opinion of black society, and not a reflection of society itself.

Look at the black girls she's allowed to win, for example. Eva won because Tyra "reformed" her from catty to something more to Tyra's liking. And as the OP points out, Tyra harped for episodes on end about Danielle's gap and especially her manner of speech.

Tyra needs to check herself. :P

Scandelisha was a walking, talking cliche, and she was allowed to win anyway. Of course, Tyra never brought up her picking on Heather, or her meltdown with Bianca ("Check yo thighs in the mirror!"). One of the things that has been mentioned tho, is that Tyra seems okay with an African accent (see Nnenna) but not with any other accent generally considered "black" (see Danielle). Jaslene has been one of the most incoherent winners (in terms of accent) but less was made of her accent that Danielle's, which is, for all intents and purposes, an "American" accent.

However, no one got accent-dissed as much as poor Natasha...

I agree with the idea that Tyra has some self-hatred, for your points and because of the makeovers she gives so many of the African-American contestants: long straight weaves. she shaved Nnenna's head and had Yaya keep her hair more natural...but otherwise most of the girls have gotten a look that is considered beautiful by white society.

*Nod* Not to mention she often times makes them go lighter/blonde (Robin, Nik, Coryn, Eva, Wendy, Bianca's wig lol) which further enforces more white standards of beauty.

Ew. I would hate Heidi Klum as a host.

I really liked the dynamics of the second cycle of Canada's Next Top Model: Jay Manuel as the host and Nole' Marin as the artistic director.

edit: I mean "I would hate Heidi Klum as THE host" I already hate her as the host of Project Runway.

Yeah, Jay did a wonderful job. In the beginning, it seemed like he was trying too hard to emulate Tyra, but ultimately he made it his own. And Nole was great-- I didn't care for him as a judge on ANTM, but he was great on CNTM.

I've never seen CNTM. What about Nole changed from his ANTM appearances?

I still love Tyra as the host. She has her annoying moments, I sometimes disagree with her, and she seems more emotionally detached-- but I love her! I don't know what to make of her issue with Danielle's accent. Past girls have had accents, but Tyra said that Danielle had to have a voice like a newscaster. I guess it was just the way Danielle enunciated-- sometimes I didn't quite get what she was saying, to be honest.

That said, I think Kate Dillon would be a wonderful host (she is the plus-sized supermodel who made a guest appearance in Cycle 3). I think Paulina could also fill Tyra's shoes pretty well.

That's a great suggestion! Both would be saucy. I wonder what it would be like if Tyra was just a judge and not the host...she could still be funky, but not quite so involved.

Kate Dillon was so nice on Cycle 3, and her feedback seemed spot-on. Plus? She's so pretty. Hah.

It would be so interesting if Tyra were a guest-judge! Dunno if she did any guest-judging for other NTMs. She did have an appearance in GNTM when she was doing the Victoria's Secret show and was quite sweet to Heidi's hamsters, I thought.

I wouldn't want to see Heidi there because I really like her and just like Tyra, I'd hate to begin disliking her.
