There and Back Again

On a global scale I didn't go away that long (4 days) or travel that far (1800 miles), but I certainly feel as if I have returned from a decent adventure ( Read more... )

I think I need enlightening - how come you were wearing a red rugby shirt?
(My rugby is pretty much limited to my national side, Cardiff Bluebirds (my dad's team) and Wasps (my sFIL's team...)

The red is the red of Munster. In one of those coincidences which are not the stuff of fiction, just bloody annoying, I was at a wedding in Toulouse while Munster were playing Toulouse, in Cardiff, and winning the Heineken Cup.

I moved heaven and earth (well, went through Ticketmaster's automated phone systems, which is about the same thing) to go to their semi-final in Coventry. Last week, my dad rang me and said he knew a man who could get me a ticket for the final as well, but as I felt honour bound go to this wedding (and more to the point, had bought the train tickets), I declined. I said he should go, though, as it was bound to be a fantastic occasion, not thinking he actually would. However, while I was in the Cafe des Sports in Bouloc, in between the civil and church ceremonies, I got a call to let me know that my parents were in the middle of an estimated 60,000 red-shirted Munster fans at the Millennium Stadium and thoroughly enjoying it...
