...

Mr. Giriko was almost gone a month.

We just have to wait for her to come back, that's all.

....

We have to do something. She couldn't have gone home without us...

...No, she couldn't have.

We'll think of something. It may just be a matter of waiting.

She wouldn’t give up on us, so we can’t give up on her either. I still have a promise to keep after all.

…Has anyone tried to actually talk to Grady? Without using violence, I mean…

I don't know... I'll ask when I have the chance.

What do you mean, "promise"?

It might do some good, he did say he was trapped here like the rest of us.

O-oh, [...] I made a promise that I'd get stronger because there were people I needed to protect.

Yes, but he doesn't seem to like us at all. It might just incite his wrath further.

...Luke, that's not something you should be worrying about at your age.

But we're not going to know that unless we try first.

-And I think I'm old enough! Besides, I already made the promise. I can't go back on it.

For all we know, someone may have already tried and made things worse. It's important to do research before you take a risk.

...I'm afraid you're not, my boy. I'd normally say that a gentleman always keeps his word, but considering that that's a promise based on a falsehood, I think it would be alright in this case. Just be more careful before making promises next time.

Right, of course. I'll ask around first.

It's not a...

...But I want to keep it.

...Luke. The only thing a child could protect is an even younger child, not an adult. You're still being protected right now, you can't worry about protecting others.

Yes, sir.

It doesn't mean that you can't help. It's just that that particular responsibility is a little big for your shoulders right now.

Well, how do I do that then?

...I don't have to give up training with miss May Lee and Naruto, do I? I don't want to be protected all the time! And I'm getting better at it!

You can help by supporting the adults, and offering a second opinion or another idea on things.

No, of course not. If I had the equipment, I'd offer to teach you some fencing as well... it's a good a way as any to pass time around here.

[Nod.] Okay, got it.

Good! Well, if you do find the equipment, you'll have to show me, okay?
