 Chapter Twenty Four

Jack

“So Ianto what have you found?” I asked as we sat in the board room with the jug full of coffee in the middle. Gwen and Martha were sitting next to each other while Ianto stood at the end of table in front of the screen. Ianto started to look at the piece of paper in his hand.

“Well according to my research, the asylum isn’t what we think it is.” Ianto explained with a small smile, “I dug deeper into the mental hospital’s history and discovered that in the 1930s three patients disappeared without a trace....”

“Don’t tell me, the ‘asylum’ was written on the wall?” I asked rather astounded.

“Yes, but here’s the weird part, all three patients were admitted in for the same condition.” Ianto replied putting down the piece of paper on to the table. “According to what I found, all three heard voices in their mind.”

“Schizophrenia?” Gwen asked.

“No, more like other people’s thoughts,” Ianto replied looking directly at Gwen, “I pulled up old records from the torchwood archives; it seems that the word ‘telepathy’ is used.”

“Huh, from our archives?” Martha asked.

“Yes, it seems that Torchwood placed a psychologist there in the 1930s. He recognised that these men had telepathy and weren’t insane.” Ianto explained, “So I decided to dig a little deeper into the current patients that went missing and well they also have telepathy.”

“Who was the psychologist?” I asked which made Ianto look at me. “Who found this current information?”

“Our good friend Dr Charles Worthington,” Ianto replied with a smile.

“So what is the asylum?” Martha asked which made Ianto shrug his shoulders.

“I don’t know,” Ianto replied, “All I know it is a metaphor for something, according to the notes.”

“Ok thanks, Ianto.” I said standing up, “Gwen, Martha could you two go through the footage again from the mental hospital.”

“Jack, James has been through it there’s nothing we can do to make anything standout.” Gwen replied but I saw that Martha grab her arm. It seemed she knew what I was trying to do.

“Come Gwen, maybe we will be lucky this time.” She told her and they left, leaving me and Ianto alone in the boardroom. Ianto started to smirk.

“So have a good time with James last night?” He asked with his hands in his pocket.

“Well I found out he loves me,” I replied with a shrug, “Nothing happened though, except for me falling asleep on the couch.”

“That’s good,” Ianto replied walking towards me, “The ‘love’ part is surprising though.”

“Yes it is,” I answered looking at Ianto hungrily as he moved even closer, “Though he hates himself for it and I only in love with a ghos...”

I was interrupted by Ianto’s tongue slipping into my mouth. Maybe I had made him totally jealous either that or he just wanted to kiss me. I didn’t care as I closed my eyes and let him take me away to another place. A few minutes later I pulled back.

“Sorry I need to call Dr Worthington.” I told him before quickly running off to my office.
