In a depressed state (Torchwood PG)
In a Depressed state
Jack walked over to the couch where James was lying with the earphones in his ears. He was staring up at the ceiling aimlessly. Jack knew that James’ mood had changed when he had entered through the cog door that morning. That he was in one of his depressed states which would strike often even if James was seemed happier at the moment; he couldn’t stop the dark thoughts from rising.
He sat down and moved James’ head on to his lap so he could stroke his hair. He knew what James was going through. He had been the same many times over the long years of his life. The times when he would dwell over the people he had lost until telling himself to move on. Still it wasn’t helping when James reminded him of a former lover. It let the darker thoughts to fester in his mind causing tears to form.
He noticed that James was unaware that Jack was there but it didn’t fuss him. James probably was in a different world that they were right now.
“Coffee sir?” Ianto asked when he walked up to the couch. Jack looked up and nodded.
“Ianto, can you promise me something?” Jack asked. “That you will be there for me when I’m depressed.”
“Yes of course.” Ianto replied with a smile.
Jack smiled and gently got up from the couch. He put an arm around Ianto and kissed him softly on the lips. “And I promise I will be there when you feel down.”
James looked up and saw the two men kissing. This single act made him think of Emmett. He though about how he had left the house depressed and that Emmett had been worried about him. He turned off his MP3 player and got up from the couch.
“Thanks.” He said as he walked past the two men.
