The snowman (Torchwood, Jack/Ianto)

Jack watched from the window of the cottage as Ianto made a snowman. He smiled as Ianto put on the hat, scarf and the carrot for the nose. If anything, he thought Ianto had a very good job with it, probably from experience during childhood. Jack would have loved to have joined him out there but in here it was warmer and Bing Crosby was singing Winter Wonderland in the corner on the old gramophone that he brought with them.

Ianto looked up and waved from where he stood, before looking back at the snowman with admiration. Jack loved seeing him like this, the inner child coming out of that calm exterior. Jack couldn’t remember the last time he had made a snowman or even played in the snow. Sipping his coffee he watched Ianto a little while longer before turning away towards the Christmas tree that they decorated together. The tree was decorated with baubles, lights and tinsel with a yellow star on the top.

“How do you like my snowman?” Ianto asked, causing Jack to jump suddenly.

“It’s very nice, does it have a name?” Jack asked, turning to him with a grin.

“I thought you could name it.” Ianto replied with a smile.

Jack looked at the snowman and smiled. “I don’t know, maybe Marvin?”

“After the android? It doesn’t look depressed to me!” Ianto told him.

“I don’t know then, I’m really good at naming things.” Jack confessed before he felt Ianto’s arms around his waist.

“Doesn’t matter, Marvin it is then, Marvin the paranoid snowman.” Ianto said with a smile.

Jack laughed and kissed Ianto on the forehead.

“Now, who’s up for a snowball fight?”
