Cheering him up (Torchwood, Jack/Ianto)
Ianto stood at the coffee machine while Jack stood by, watching him with his teary blue eyes. The meeting in the boardroom hadn’t gone well as hoped with Jack had to explain to Gwen and him as well as Martha about who James Worthington had been. Jack had tried to keep the tears away but something inside him had snapped.
“Ianto, thanks for stepping in.” Jack told him, as Ianto poured the drinks.
“Well sir it was either me or Gwen.” Ianto explained, “Gwen was more worried about you....”
The rest of sentence hung in the air between them as Jack understood what he was about to say. He knew that Ianto cared about him but Martha had to be told about what they had found. Martha had volunteered to help Ianto down in the archives to see if they could find anymore files on the investigation. Now as they stood there, Jack wanted to be closer to Ianto so he had left the girls to themselves to watch Ianto make the coffee.
“Here sir, this might cheer you up.” Ianto said holding out a hot chocolate with whipped cream and cinnamon sticks. Jack was surprised.
“Thanks Ianto, um did I ever tell you that I saw James’ ghost at the fun fair?”
“No but that explains why you were looking over at the carrousel.” Ianto replied placing Gwen and Martha’s coffees on to the tray.
“He was happy that I had finally found someone.” Jack told him, which made Ianto look up at him. “James was a bright spark in my life, a very bright spark.”
“Why are telling me this sir?” Ianto asked with his eyes still on him.
“Well I believe that I have found another bright spark and he’s standing right in front of me.” Jack replied placing the cup down onto a table before taking Ianto’s hands into his.
Ianto smiled before kissing him softly.
