Too Late to save a life (Torchwood, Jack/Ianto)
Jack didn’t want to yell or scream as he walked to the car. Ianto was right nothing could change time, he assured Jack that he had done the right thing. Back then things were different, he didn’t know about Torchwood’s investigation into the illness or even if they had found a cure. Though it didn’t stop him feeling like he was tripping and falling over the sudden news.
Ianto knew that he had to tread carefully now around Jack. James had meant everything to the man whom he loved and he knew that he couldn’t change that. All Ianto could do was assure Jack that he had done the right thing and left James to be. It wasn’t Jack’s fault that he wasn’t told about the investigation.
He grabbed Jack’s hand and held it tight. Even if they were too late to save James, they weren’t too late to save the present victims.
