I work for Angus & Robertson in Melbourne. We usually have heaps and heaps of Robin Hobb in stock. :) If you can't find it anywhere, you can order it in. :) I would probably try A&R first, because Borders is a lot more expensive (A&R bought them, so we own their asses! :P).

The A&R I went to didn't have the book I wanted but it's only a small one in a shopping centre. I've forgotten where the Adelaide A&R one is but Borders is easy to find, the Malls Balls is in front of it.

When I visit Adelaide I will look at all three, more for availability than price.

D: Some of them are franchises, so that could be why they didn't have the book in stock. But most A&Rs I've worked in have been pretty awesome in the stock-ing department. :3 Hopefully you find it, either way! If you do have to order it in, I can vouch for A&R's ordering system. :3 No idea if Borders do that sort of thing. O.o

Depends on what you like, but in terms of fantasy fic, the Bartimeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud is just lovely. I also really liked Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, and I love anything by Terry Pratchett. If you like Robin Hobb, you might like Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea series.

Diana Wynne Jones's children's books are epic, amazing, and she's done some for adults too, the Derkholm series. They're hilarious and made of win. In my reading pile at the moment (but I haven't read, so can't rec yet) is China Mielville's Kraken, which is sort of magical reality (as I understand it) and squids, and Max Brook's World War Z, which is about the zombie war. Thinking of magical reality, if that's your thing, Peter Hoeg or Isabelle Allende do that really, really well.

LOVE BOOKS. I need to read more of them this year! I only just read "The Sword in the Stone" last year, and I loved it.
