The smoke could be seen clearly from the hill. A fire had ravaged a home, caused by a lit cigarette fallen from a young woman’s hand into a puddle of petrol. Witnesses later described how she was angry, looking for the man who broke her heart.

Eighty years later the statements were found in a box marked private, stored in the Torchwood hub storage
