Oh, I'd still feel silly even he was a small-time movie/character actor..I try to know or learn about as many of the smaller/lesser known movie actors as I can. It's fun being able to recognize certain faces. But since I looked at imdb and saw he is much more of a tv actor, I feel much better.;)
I have to admit, I have never seen any of this director's movies, yet the more I hear about him, the more I am intrigued. I heard excellent things about "Grizzly Man", and now about this movie which is getting such acclaim.
Never heard of "Aguirre" or "Wrath of God", though. Hmm...
Anyway, I think I'd probably enjoy the documentary "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" (I'd love to met the person who thought up that title) because docs are one of my favorite genres of film. I think I will see this movie at some point, though, just because it has Christian Bale.
I'm not one to get all fangirly over actors, but Bale just does a very good job in all his movies. He made even "Batman Begins", which I wasn't crazy over, pretty decent.
On one hand, I want to see this for the actor and director. On the other, it's yet another war movie. I'm not sure how much more war movies I can handle(even if they were at least decent) there are just far too many.
I hear what you're saying about war movies. I felt that way about Eastwood's WWII movies last year. But this isn't really a war movie at all. There's a total of one scene of warfare (where Dieter gets shot down), and it lasts about two minutes. It's a survival tale, not a war story.
Good to know this isn't a war movie-even with Christian Bale, I might totally have skipped it because of that. Sounds more pyschological, which I always go for.
Yeah, I felt like that about Eastwood's movies, too. I still haven't seen "Flags of Our Fathers" for that exact reason (though I took a risk on "Letters from Iwo Jima and loved it).
Thanks for providing the link to the review-sounds like a challenging movie, but I'm definitely adding it to netflix. I really enjoy historical movies..and especially about the conquistadors (there aren't exactly tons of movies on that topic.)

Here's a community review of Aguirre, Wrath of God (it's one movie, but I understand where you could make the mistake): http://community.livejournal.com/topfive_reviews/392895.html
