have you seen the Marie Antoinette from 1939 with Norma Shearer? it's quite good. i still plan to see this one, mostly because of the costuming.

No, I haven't seen it. Why do you like it.

The only reason to see it is for the costumes.

well, it's been a while since i last watched it, but i remember that it was well-written and well-acted and the costuming was beautiful. plus i was going through a Norma Shearer phase at the time.

i'd recommend it if you have any interest in Marie Antoinette as a historical figure (by which i mean if you watched Sofia Coppola's movie because of who it was about, rather than who directed/starred in it).
