This was totally one of my favorite movies/stories as a kid. I had one of the disney picture books too. I talked up to one of my friends a few years ago, who had never seen it. I was shocked...I was like, come on!!! who hasn't heard the story of the Fox and the Hound!?!?! But apparently, such people exist.
So we watched it one night and I guess I had forgotten just how sad/depressing it is! And my friend was like "this is your FAVORITE Disney movie???" LOL...I said "well, as a kid yeah...cuz it's all about friendship and loyalties", but yeah, it is kinda sad/dark as are several disney movies!
Anyways, on a side note, I'm soooooooooo sick of Disney making all these ridiculous sequels that go straight to video. It has nothing to do with good story telling, and everything to do with money money money! Walt Disney is probably turning over in his frozen hyperbarric chamber! LOL
One year for Christmas, I got both the Fox and the Hound stuffed animals! They were pretty big too (not life sized, but maybe 2/3s scale or something). I loved those things.
When I was a kid this movie made me cry, even thinking about it now in the scene where Copper slowly walks in front of the old mans rifle to shield Tod still makes me tear up to this day.
