This has nothing to do with your review, but I have one more X-Men question, then I promise I won't ask anymore. (For a day or two.)
So, I read all three of the Phoenix trades (Dark Phoenix, Phoenix Rising, Endsong), and I get it all, but... how does Jean Grey die the second time? That is, what happens between Phoenix Rising and Endsong that kills Jean Grey again? That's my only bit of confusion at this point, I think...
Phoenix Rising and Phoenix: Endsong are probably a good 12 years apart (or more), so a lot happens to Jean in the between time (in fact, I believe she died at least one more time in between, only very temporarily). Sadly, I stopped reading comics around the time she most recently died, so I don't really know it all.
From what I've been able to gather, there was a mutant named Xorn that joined the X-Men, then revealed himself to be Magneto. Eventually, there was a big battle with him, and somewhere in there, Jean Grey died again. Later, I guess, it turns out that Xorn wasn't Magneto pretending to be Xorn, but rather Xorn pretending to be Magneto. I wouldn't spend too much time trying to figure this out... it'll make your head spin. Basically, Marvel changed it afterwards so that it was not Magneto.
And how'd you know I'd like the Emma Frost? And her little protègés, the Stepford Cuckoos. They kill me. I now want to read everything in which they and she appear, but I think that's too much of a financial investment, not to mention too much of a pain to figure out all the stupid continuity crap. Comics are so expensive, and I can read them so quickly... *sigh* I think I've decided to stick JUST with things in the Ultimate universe (and Young Avengers), but... all these other titles keep alluring me so! *cries*
