Top Twenty WrestleMania Main Events

Apr 02, 2005 23:25

With the "Grandaddy of them all" taking place tomorrow night, I thought I'd rank the previous twenty main events, as best as I can. This isn't neccessarily based on anything other than my own personal enjoyment. In cases where there are "Double Main Events" (i.e. WM VIII), whichever match ends the night shall be counted as the Main Event.

pretty blowing

That sounds dirty. And there's no WAY WMIII is worse than the Sid Main Events. It blew everyone away at the time, and I bet you said your prayers for Hogan to win it at the time.

You put WM 2000 at NUMBER THREE??? Yeah, that is pretty blowing...

Seriously, that match was a disaster! It has some entertaining value to it, but it boggles me how that could be better than Lesnar/Angle or the IRON MAN MATCH.

I did that, because it was unexpected. & I enjoyed it! This is MY list, not anyone else's!

Yeah I never really liked the 4-Way Match, it was good at moments but think about 3 or 4 other Main Event matches were better.

Jericho/HHH was actually a rather good match, but I couldn't rate it as high as mid-way through the list simply because of the HHH booking. The WM2000 match shocks me being so high up, it ruined the tradition of WM and with hindsight only makes HHH that much bigger of a jerk now than he was back then.
There's no way I could have done all the WM main events though, and simply because there's too many Hogan ones, so needless to say there's too many bad matches. Hart/Yokozuna from 9 would be further down my list though, and their re-match from 10 is actually justifiable for a higher rating not for the match itself but because it really showed how over Bret was and how the WWF did the right thing in putting him over again.
I could go on but there's only so much space I'm allowed in a comment.

You can do your own Top Five as well.

This is why I told Skooch not to bother ranking them all, because most of them suck and are thus un-rankable. But Canadians never listen to good advice...
