Nah. Religious folk would be so offended by this. Most of them anyway. It's sad, but I think the insanely religious are the only people on earth who can't laugh at themselves every now and then.
Well I think religious people should see the movie so they see how ricockulous the rest of the world looks at them. Maybe then they'd have a fucking sense of humour about their "beliefs."
Reminds me of the South Park episode where they explain Mormonology or whatever it's called.
Have you noticed how often Roger Ebert gets facts about the movies he's reviewing wrong? He called the pastor a widower, which he is not, his wife is very much alive (just not around). Then he says that Mary (not a random name choice, by the way) started hang out with Dean and the others. Dean is not seen again until the prom, except for the one awkward phone conversation.
I've noticed this in a lot in reviews of his I've read. The guy's brain is going.
i love this movie. i'm not a religious person either (nothing pisses me off like people who say, "i'm not religious, i'm spiritual." you sound like a cock. stop it.), but i was raised attending church every sunday, and i do believe in God, and i find it absolutely ridiculous when people say that this movie is anti-religion, because this is one of the most pro-faith movies i've ever seen. at its core, it's much more in keeping with the judeo-christian tradition than is a movie like, say, passion of the christ, which i have not and never intend to see, because honestly, i do not need the added guilt of watching a movie and thinking, "mm, jesus looks hot."
