"Take it off if you have to, but keep on running!"

My new favorite quote is what was shouted to me by a Marine this morning as I stripped down during the MCM10k. ( Race report here. )

running

Thank you! That's one of the best things a person can hear! And I thank you, too, for always being able to get through my longest posts!

I always enjoy your posts - and in my experience long posts from people that matter to you are the ones that have something worth reading!

Sorry I didn't make it out to the race!

Awww man, you're making me blush!

Don't worry, hopefully there will be many more opportunities to come to races. Honestly, going to the MCM is a zoo, but IMO it is such a neat day to be out there and a part of things.

The end sucked. Like I said, I literally felt like I breezed through Crystal City...it is amazing on how much a difference the people (and the flat roads) makes! And the music...for me the music is always a lift. And then, back out into silence (except the marching band...they rocked!). And that part where we had to go over the median??? Uh, that was weird. But, just like the end of the ATM, the end of this course really sucks. I can't imagine doing that at the end of a marathon!

And, I was reminded over and over again, how mental running can be.

I kept looking around for someone who looked like you...we'll have to get together at one of these things sooner or later! I thought about you toward the end, thinking that you were probably already done!

I agree with that Marine organization, though! I don't think I will ever do the ATM again, but this was a much better experience.

I'm looking at the Veteran's Day 10k in West Potomac Park on Sun. Nov. 12...interested?

Maybe it is a running high, 'cause I was thinking about the marathon, too...especially if I run/walk it. Regardless, I'm sure I'll do something this weekend next year, 10k, volunteer (and meet some Marines!) or something!

That would be a fabulous sign btw! I was just throwing it out there...I have to check my tennis matches, but if I have a bit of a break, I might do it just for the hell of it and see if I can get a better time.

0630 is actually later than I get up on a school day. Sad, I know. Like I told the Eye, other opportunities will surely present themselves. (Like when I do the actual marathon, I won't finish until much later, giving everyone ample time to sleep in, see me finish, and then carry me home.)

I was going to ask what an MSF class driving test is, but I saw your post. Congrats! Zoom, zoom!
