ARMISTICE: THE MIX

This fanmix for my fic Armistice comes in two halves - side one, and side two, predictably - for a reason.

Side One approximately follows the plotline of the fic, with appropriate lyrics and Side Two is a collection of
songs that fit the story's tone both lyrically and musically. Some relate to the present, and some relate distinctly
to the past - hopefully you'll be able to figure out which. No spoilers for the story.

SIDE ONE

01 Patrick Wolf: Armistice
If you'll be weak, then I'll be strong.
When the night is long.

Trust all the years you'll wait to find
This man, who's loved you your whole life,
So come closer, closer to where we belong.

02 Empires: Anywhere
I touch your silver shirt without you in it.
It looks like you've been hurt.
I'm told to stay here, police all gather around.
They want to know where I've been

You could be anywhere.
By design, I forgot you everywhere.
And you won't come back here.
You could be anywhere.

03 Ludo: Please
Please save this for me
I'll come back for you, love, I promise to
Please save this for me, for until I return
my love will burn and my heart will stay

04 Snow Patrol: Set The Fire To The Third Bar
I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from 'A' to where you'd be
It's only finger-lengths that I see

I touch the place where I'd find your face
My fingers in creases of distant dark places

[...]

I'm miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

05 Fun: Barlights
Me, I'm gonna live forever.
Now all the barlights are blinking in time
to Mexican music, it's taunting the pavement
and for the first time, in a long time,
I feel alive.
note: this is the song that kurt and
blaine dance to in the bar.

06 Boyce Avenue: Every Breath
The weightlessness and the lack of rest
Away from you, I'm in over my head

Even when it's dark before the dawn
I will feel your grace and carry on
And with every breath of me,
you'll be the only light I see

07 Tool: Schism
There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away.
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of our second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow, and strengthen our communication.

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any
Sense of compassion
Between supposed lovers

08 Metric: Calculation Theme
Tonight your ghost will ask my ghost,
Where is the love?
Tonight your ghost will ask my ghost,
Who here is in line for a raise?
Tonight your ghost will ask my ghost,
Where is the love?
Tonight your ghost will ask my ghost,
Who put these bodies between us?

09 Iwan Rheon: Where We Started
And no looking back
It's time to grow

And your building blocks
And rewinding clocks
Behind closed doors
Let's climb this rock
To where we started

10 Biffy Clyro: Machines
I would dig a thousand holes to lay next to you
I would dig a thousand more if I needed to
I look around the grave for an escape route of old routines
There doesn’t seem to be any other way

Cause I’ve started falling apart, I’m not savouring life
I’ve forgotten how good it could be to feel alive

11 Maroon 5: Never Gonna Leave This Bed
Wake you up in the middle of the night to say
I will never walk away again
I'm never gonna leave this bed

12 Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes: Home
Laugh until we think we'll die
Barefoot on a summer night
Never could be sweeter than with you
And in the streets you run a-free
Like it's only you and me
Geez, you're something to see

Ah, home, let me go home
Home is wherever I'm with you

SIDE TWO

01 Patrick Wolf: Godrevy Point/The Towans
Ten miles I've walked today
Along the shore
I saw your ghost again
The seasoning and birds gather to go
And I laid down at the top of a cliff
Confessed my sins into the wind
And the sky lay a feather in my mouth

Good lord it was a beautiful day
For untangling, unraveling my heavy heart away
To forgive and forget myself and my enemies,
my bruises washed away

02 Florence & The Machine: Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
I look around, but I can't find you (raise it up)
If only I could see your face (raise it up)
Instead of rushing towards the skyline (raise it up)
I wish that I could just be brave
I must become a lion hearted girl
Ready for a fight
Before I make the final sacrifice

03 Rent: Season Of Love
In five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life?
How about love? Measure in love?
note: kurt and blaine watch rent together

04 Patrick Wolf: Penzance
My love, come stop me
I am haunted and possessed
And with my darkest hour yet to come
It's only you, only you can stop me

Come back to Penzance where the winds are born
Just follow the track of this train
And just like this love calling out for you
It is calling me out again

05 Bon Iver: The Wolves (Act I & II)
Someday my pain, someday my pain
Will mark you
Harness your blame, harness your blame
And walk through

With the wild wolves around you
In the morning, I'll call you
Send it farther on

06 Inception: Waiting For A Train
Instrumental

07 Florence & The Machine: Cosmic Love
I took the stars from my eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with you

08 Heavy Rain: Painful Memories
Instrumental

09 Tenth Avenue North: On and On
Love, I have waited for you
And love, I was wounded for you
Won't you look into my eyes
Through the pain and through your pride
And find I am true
You're the one I can't deny
And I'll never leave your side
I gave my life for you
So what are you waiting for?

10 Kleerup: Until We Bleed
Doors slam, lights black
You're gone, come back
Stay gone, stay clean
I need you to need me

So we're bound to linger on
We drink the fatal drop
Then love until we bleed
Then fall apart in parts

11 Bon Iver: I Can't Make You Love Me/Nick Of Time
the lyrics don't particularly fit for any of the fic at any point,
really, but the tone of the song is entirely gorgeous and
(importantly) tragic, much like the certain sections of the story.

12 Florence & The Machine: Heavy In Your Arms
I was a heavy heart to carry
My feet dragged across ground
And he took me to the river
Where he slowly let me drown

My love has concrete feet
My love's an iron ball
Wrapped around your ankles
Over the waterfall
