Camping thoughts

I'm going camping for the first time in my adult life. Does a weekend in Kinnelon, NJ with girl scouts count? Anyway, my family and friends are telling me I just need to relax. I say, 'Yeah, but it's the first time", and they laugh at me. I mean, anything the first time is daunting! I'm borrowing equipment from my nephew so I don't need to buy ( Read more... )

Spike has gotten very much into the camp fire cooking but after the last event without good coffee he put his foot down so we are bringing the coffee maker. We have an electric cooler plugs in so we don't have to worry as much about ice issues. Hard boiled eggs are a good source of protein:) We are doing PBJ's for lunch one day too:)

i love camping and while it is a different type you don't have to suffer and it can still be easy...i'm assuming you'll be with others? i would bet they'd be more than willing to help out and share cook space or what have yous...personally unless i know i'll have electricity i don't bring anything that requires a plug, your french press is perfect, just heat water over a fire, sandwhiches and cereal is great as well as snacks and then a good dinner can be hotdogs, brats, pre-seasoned meat (chicken doesn't last long even in a good cooler)...a small pot/pan and bucket all work for many things, try to have fun with it ;)

I make pancakes out there, and plenty to share. So if you like those, your breakfast will be complete.

I've only ever been "car camping" and that's just because I was hot for some guy. It helped that he was also a coffee snob, so brought the necessities for that. And I insisted it had to be within an easy hop to a diner for any emergency huckleberry pie runs.

It was kinda fun, but I imagine the near proximity of lots of kinky folk might make it moreso. Have a great time - and see you soon in the relative luxury of LR! :)

Instant Ramen Noodles come in handy when you're feeling peckish and you've got some water on the boil. Light and not fragile to pack.
Don't forget to bring bear repellent! ;)
