Room 302; Friday Night [ 09/13 ].

Sep 13, 2013 18:19

Despite his rock star attitude and personable charm, Danny really wasn't much to go out and do stuff on Friday nights. At his core, he was really just a big nerd, and, back home, he had his best friends right there in the Invisible Hideout with him. No need to go out. So, to Danny, Friday nights were for two things.

Cecil had been wandering a little aimlessly just to see if anything was going on, and it was kind of hard to miss the lights and noise! He stuck his head in the room to see who it was.

"Oh! Hi, Danny." He waved.

"Ooh, yeah, uh-huh, watch it!" Sorry, Cecil, it might be a moment, Danny was totally feeling these bomb beats right now! But he did realize that someone was at the door and had said something, so he called out, "What?"

And though the tunes were loud, he could still see, so he stopped for a second to point at his visitor. "Oh, hey, Cecil! My main welding man! Come on in, we're all gettin' down with our dope selves."

Cecil beamed and came in. "I like the lights!" They reminded him of the school board.

"Wait," said Danny, over the loudness of the music, not quite hearing what Cecil had said, "who bites?"

"You're dancing," Alana observed as she laid down on her bed with a fresh paperback in hand. "Why are you dancing?"

Not that she minded it; Danny moved pretty well, and she liked the music.

"I got a better question for you, most excellent roommate," said Danny, who did not cease moving, and seemed to currently fancy a move that involved shooting his fingers at her like pistols and shimmying his shoulders. "Why aren't you dancing?"

"Because I --" Okay, there was no answer that did not involve sounding like a wet blanket. Alana stuck a bit of paper into her book to mark her place, stood up, and started shimmying back at Danny.

"You're right," she said. "People should dance more."

"What?"

So he liked his music loud. And years of this had made his hearing not exactly great to begin with. But he didn't dare put a stop in his grove now, then he'd mess up Alana's groove, too.

Mira couldn't help but hear the racket from two doors over. "Some of us are trying to have a relaxing night in, you know!" she shouted from down the hall.

What? If he could blast music, she could yell. That was a rule.

And Danny cha-cha'd over to the door to yell back.

"WHO SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A SINTAX FIGHT?"

Yeah. It was becoming a thing.

"NO, I DON'T CARE WHO MIDWAX FLIGHT IS," Mira called back. "JUST TURN THEIR MUSIC DOWN."

"WHAT? BURN A SEASICK CLOWN?"

That just sounded cruel.
