I joined a new gym this weekend, right near my house (as in, around the corner - it's awesome.)  I am trying something new - in the past, I used to work out for a long time (say an hour and a half) and lament the slowness with with I saw any results.  Also, my lazy-ass stepmother worked out next to me a while back and while I went to town on the ( Read more... )

dude, I'm the same way. I don't think it's weird at all. It's been recommended to me in the past to mix it up in an effort to keep my heart rate (and willingness) up - 20 minutes on the bike and then 20 minutes on the treadmill, for instance. Instead of 40 minutes on the bike where I'm really only going full steam for 20 minutes and trying to motivate myself to stay on the last 20 minutes.

the last time i worked out for several months in a row, i did lots of cardio and never saw any results. this time (i've been going 2-3 times a week since september), i've been doing weights and sit-ups too and i've seen a lot more results--people have even asked if i've lost weight even though i haven't.

i also get nervous in a new gym!
