First is this...I'm going (mostly) private folks. All fic will remain open the public, of course, but as I reveal more about myself I'd rather not have to select "Friends" each time. That being said I'm pretty lax in my friending...You add me, I'll add you back (same goes with dropping folks). I like you, what you write, and we've chatted a bit ( Read more... )

You see - call me shallow - the books and movies that people like do matter! I loooooooved Black Swan and I think that its a pretty good barometer for people who "get it". I mean, I could respect someone who doesn't like it (or something similar) but I'd have problems with people who just dismiss it because its weird and things don't go boom! and it wasn't directed by Michael Bay.

Just sayin... ;)

First...your icon is awesome, haha!

Second...so NOT shallow. What people like and don't like say a lot about who they are. The Black Swan isn't the typical movie that's out, you have to think about it while watching (and even after, haha), so if someone dismisses it because they think it's weird or they have to think...yeah...not a good sign, haha!

Isn't it nice to find people with common interests (even the "weird" ones)?? SO refreshing! :D

Weird is a matter of perspective. I'm actually quite proud to be weird :)
But, yes, I wholeheartedly agree that finding likeminded weirdos is like finding a diamond in your corn flakes XD

Haha, it's why I put the word in quotes. I, myself, have always been considered an odd bird and, haha, always been pleased and proud of that. :D

Totally!! ...And I rather like that phrase, "like finding a diamond in your corn flakes", it's clever! :D

Ah, yes, one of us, one of us. ;-)

I second everything that Blythe said about how the books and movies that people like matter. They matter to me quite a bit. I figure if a person and I don't like any of the same things, or worse yet if a person can't stand the things I really really love, then...what's the point? Those things do reflect quite a bit of someone's personality, and that bodes ill for how well we're going to get along. I'm thrilled that everyone on my f-list who has seen The Black Swan have all had the same reaction: HOLY WINCAKES IN AWESOMESAUCE! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ;-)

Oh, and fellow New England girl! Fistbump! ^_^

Hahaha! *bows* Thank you...thank you!

Exactly!! As I told her, the things that people do and don't like say a lot about them. And, like you say, if someone can't stand the things that you love it's not a good sign for your future friendship/relationship. Haha, it's good to know that the people on your friend's list are in sync with your personality, isn't it? I'm finding it comforting myself.

Hell's yeah, fistbump, haha!! ;D (This reminds me...Have you, in fact, hung out on Nantucket and/or Martha's Vineyard? Cause you wrote the islands so fucking beautifully well in Drawn in Slow Strokes)

LOL...I have not. I've been on the Cape, but even that was years and years ago. All that will change this spring/early summer, though. Nantucket and I shall finally meet in person. ;-)
