You know, I've actually thought about it. I'm not exactly the kind of person who goes out and organizes stuff like that, though. I have *way* too many people issues. But I'm just angry enough right now to consider it.

Good gods that sucks.
Maybe you can try and organize some kind of carpool system? One for the elementary kids, one for the high school kids?
Jayzus!

I'll bet a lot of parents are pissed about this - probably you'd get a lot of support at the next pta meeting or whatever.

Right there with you on the money thing. What a total hassle.

*soaks up pets* Thanks. :-)

I've thought of the car pool thing, but our district is really spread out. It actually encompasses several towns, all of whom couldn't afford to have their own school systems on their own. There is one person I know of who lives about a half mile from here, so I'll probably give them a call. They have a son in the same grade as mine and another in middle school (which is on the same schedule as the high school), so if they're willing, it might possibly work to switch off days or weeks with them.

As for pissed off parents, do you want to know the shear brilliance of them doing all this right now? After coming up with all this and pissing off lots of parents, they're going to have school elections. I can't imagine that most of the people up for election will still have their jobs after this one if there's another choice. *shakes head*

Jayzus, no kidding.
What worthless idiots.

And carpooling sounds like the only option, even if it might be a big hassle...Maybe drop kids off at a central point in each town and then drive them from there?
I dunno.

Jeez, yeah, it sounds like you're having lots of fun over there too.

As for the staggered times, I really don't know why they're doing that. It would have been better not to, IMO.

We had to shut down one of our elementary schools last year, so now the other elementary schools in the district are overcrowded. It's just a complete mess. It makes me want to move out of this district completely.

I'm going to call around in the morning and see if I can't get something set up for carpooling. I know it's early to think about it, but I know I'll be less stressed if I have a plan to deal with this in place.

Umm, I could be wrong, but I thought that public schools are required to provide transportation since kids are required to attend. When did that change? I'd put up a HUGE stink about it if it were my kid's school. Maybe you should call the state board of ed. and ask them?

You know, I was wondering that earlier myself. I thought they were required to, also. I think I am going to check into that.

This whole thing is ridiculous. I can't be the only person with problems like this in the district, and I'm sure there are lots of families with only one car, who now have *no way* to get their kids to school come fall. It's insane.
