Dear Uturus

Why must you open a portal through which the River Styx comes flooding out of my vagina? Why must you overflow a super absorbancy tampon in under an hour, all when I am away from home with no change of clothes available? Moreover, why must you find it necessary to flood my underwear and pants so thoroughly that I have to wash myself as well as I ( Read more... )

gore, vaginas, tampons, why god why, blood, bodily fluids, periods

Ugh...your period and mine are obviously closely related, and came through the same gates of hell.

Has the doctor ever said what the hell that is? No one's been able to give me an answer. :\ I don't go as long as a year without one, but 3-4 months at a time for sure.

I have PCOS. Basically I don't ovulate properly, develop cysts (Thankfully small ones) on my ovaries, and my hormones are all screwed up.

Your doctor seriously can't help with that? Like, birth control or depo or something? I have PCOS as well and I'm on Depo to completely stop my periods so I don't half bleed out every other month. (I had to have two blood transfusions before they figured that shit out.) I can't imagine having all that happen and nothing can be done :(

Honestly, it was birth control that caused my PCOS, I think. I was taking Cyclessa and I actually want to have a baby. I am trying to get pregnant, and those things would stop it from happening. I had heavy crampy periods before I got on birth control, but they only got extremely irregular after I was on it for over a year and stopped. I started noticing that my body was acting a lot different afterwards. I tried getting back on birth control but it makes me feel like shit. Destroys my appetite, and makes me feel pretty much hormonal 100% of the time. I don't like how I feel on the stuff.

Oh, dang, that sounds awful. I had something similar happen recently, though not with such a horrifying volume.

I go through exactly the same thing every single month, so bad that I couldn't leave the house at all when my period came. I have recently started taking Cyklo-F (transexamic acid) tablets and my last period was the first one in forever where things were manageable. One thing though, they do not stop the cramps but I'm prepared to put up with that.

Have you considered trying a menstrual cup? The cost output may not be worth it if you have a year+ between periods, but they generally have higher volumes than pads/tampons and some people even report shorter/lighter periods after using them. The problem is that when they leak, you don't have much time to get to a bathroom, but it is a lot more noticeable when you do need to make a run for it because it starts to feel bubbly :x

I have considered it *nodnod* And I have heard they work wonders. I will probably get one soon after I start working at my new job. C:

I had that problem too. Until I went gluten free. I had PCOS and infertility from it for years. I started taking cinnamon in December 2011 and had regular cycles (every 31 days) for the first time ever. Then at the suggestion of my friend I went gluten free in Feb 2012 to help with my severe acid reflux. I immediately started having 28 day cycles and my bleeding was for 3 days plus I could use a thin pad for the first time ever! Only when I cheated and ate gluten (at Easter) did my cycles go wonky again.

I got pregnant in May 2012 and have myself and my son be GF. Hec I had my 1st PP cycle 2 weeks ago and my bleeding was only 5 days and half as much bleeding than I had with my 2 other kids.
