Teeth!

Jan 20, 2012 21:02

So, I got eight teeth removed this morning. 4 wisdom teeth, plus 4 premolars to make space for some orthodontic reshuffling. The premolars are pretty normal looking so I didn't include close-ups of them, but the wisdom teeth are pretty... interesting.

First, a group shot:

We can do it for you. Maybe not that exact piece but something.
www.bryanjohnson.ca is our website. We have done a couple of really cool pieces with people's teeth. You can send us the teeth and we'll work with you to design what you want. Unfortunately none of the teeth pieces are up on the site at the moment. Email me nilla 66 at gmail dot com if you are interested or use the contact form on our site. We are in Winnipeg, btw.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I really really wanted to cast them in resin and make a pendant. I never got around to it because the resin stuff was like $30 and I was SUPER broke after the surgery. But I still have them around somewhere and it may be a project for another day! But it's something you could totally do at home!

I wish I had gotten mine back when I had all 4 taken out. It would have been really cool to see them. I didn't even think I could ask to see them. Afterwards, I was in no condition to think about it. I HATED getting mine taken out. They didn't give me anesthesia and I just had the gas. Except that I seemed to have a really bad reaction to the gas because I started hallucinating and then I stopped breathing. It was the best.

Yikes. Be glad you were totally knocked out. The sound of a tooth breaking is so gross! My sister was under general anesthesia and in the hospital, but I've had three teeth removed just at my regular dentist under Novocaine.

The most recent wisdom tooth I had out was in there deep and it pulled out a bunch of gum tissue and some of the surrounding bone.It has been about a month now, but the huge, puffy gum flap has FINALLY shrunk down and become hard and it doesn't bother me anymore. I didn't even plan to have that tooth out, but at the visit before, the hygenist that was filling in for the one I usually have damaged the tooth with the rubber dam clamp. Punched a hole right into the tooth. >__>

The dentist showed me the tooth afterward. It was wicked. Is it weird that I have a crush on him? lol

I got four premolars out for braces as well 10 years ago, and I got my wisdom teeth out 6 and a half years ago... and I still have the teeth. :D I actually had five wisdom teeth. Well, four fully grown ones, and one that was a lump of cells/a partial tooth embedded in my jaw. THAT fucking hurt for weeks.
