I'm allergic to being warm and cozy.

Good morning TMI! I often have a hard time sleeping at night due to being really, really cold. You see, I live in Hanoi where locals refuse to believe that it's actually cold during winter (which it bloody is). So there's not really anything like...central heating or superwarm blankets to be found anywhere. I made a makeshift hot water bottle ( Read more... )

I've looked for them and only found one...in a very western style store and it cost hundreds of dollars.

hmm you could try order one online but the power voltage difference might cause a problem

Yeah, that crossed my mind but also getting packages here is a HUGE pain.

Can you order an electric blanket online? Or do what I did growing up (we had a wood stove and the heat didn't make to the back of the house, aka my room) pile so many blankets on me that I could barely move. But, I stayed warm! Or something like this http://www.amazon.com/Cuddle-Cow-10-Cozy-Plush/dp/B00278UQN4/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1325567420&sr=8-6 which is microwavable and has a cute cow/animal of your choice surrounding it so that hopefully it won't be too hot on your skin

Here's the odd thing with me and blankets...I think my temperature runs really low or something but it seems like no matter how many blankets you pile on me, it like, insulates the cold and I'm still freezing. Besides, I can't find good blankets here. Back home, I had an electric blanket, central heating and a boyfriend to keep me toasty warm.

Also, no microwave.

There are electric blankets made for trucks that run on 12 or 24 VDC. Then you get an adapter from the Hanoi standards of ballpark 120 to 400 VAC that drops it down to the 12/24 for the blanket. Sleeping with a plugged in 380 Vac wire is so unsafe.

i have that too! ;_; well, on my tummy. it isn't as bad now because i weaned myself off my own hot water bottle but it leaves this darkish pigmentation that looks like a birthmark. i never knew it was actually a thing!

I used to live in Hanoi.. We purchased space heaters to keep warm in the winter, and had these horribly scratchy (but warm!) wool blankets
