Title: And in Health Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 3198 Character(s)/Pairing: Kate/Tony Genre: Drama/Hurt/Comfort Spoilers: Chained, Conspiracy Theory, SWAK Summary: Post SWAK. Conversations in isolation.
Wow I loved this. You're def brinnging the Tate love back. :) You had me with the first lines because it went so well with the situation and Tony. As if he wanted to say: Srsly. The Plague?! WTF?!
"Are you-" he raised an eyebrow, trying to pretend his pause was sardonic and not necessary, "still here?" Defensiveness rose through her body language like a tide, her flinty expression in total conflict with the soft waves of her unstyled hair and her fuzzy, rumpled pyjamas. "No. I'm leaving." Awesome opening for their interaction. It's teasing and kinda awkward but with an edge.
He'd probably mock her for weeks if- when he got better. Maybe months. Maybe years. She could see this coming up in his speech if he was ever awarded a medal. Oh my dear this is the good kind of pain because we know what happens after SWAK. And my only wish is that he'd got the chance to tease and mock her. *sighs*
And he was her partner. Hers to protect. Best line.
He was breaking all the rules, and sticking to the rules of their slightly dysfunctional
( ... )
I've been wanting to write it for ages (and I've touched on Kate's confused feelings towards Tony and really thoroughly addressed their whole complicated relationship in other stories), but this would be my first full-fledged Tate-fic. I have others simmering in my brainbox. ;)
