Paint Hard 2: Paint Harder

(These paintings are being posted chronologically with no gaps unless otherwise noted.)

In August my friends and former roommates moved to Athens, Georgia. In December I flew out to visit them for a week. A few days before leaving I found a watercolor canvas at the art store. I had never heard of one before and I was intrigued. I'd been meaning to get to my water colors and an oppurtunity finally smooshed itself into my face so hard I couldn't ignore it. I bought a 12x12 square and made this as a gift. I mostly painted at night and it took two days to complete.

I finished it at 3 a.m. Earlier in the night I had ordered a taxi to the airport for 4. The painting was hardly dry when I packed it. I had to make some concessions, but it's probably for the best. If you don't know what you're doing and try to fix or modify watercolor it tends to just get worse and worse.

I am a pretty ridiculous archivist/pack rat (it's generally unhealthy and often disruptive) so naturally I took periodic pictures of my progress. That way if I messed up I could say “see look it was all going so smooth until this part” and feel a little better about it. Also, I just think it's neat to look at.

Here you can see that the vinyl is still in the shrink-wrap (my record player won't work). You can also see my practice page where I tested the layout and colors

Close enough!

Unsurprisingly, NationofAmanda was able to do it much much better

And this is me holding a painting of an album cover in front of the house the album was written in:
