You have the same plan as someone else I know. How much would a semester at St. Mary's cost? Just wondering the money amount for schools on the eastcoast compared to the west.
Well, obviously, it all depends on the person's course load (though that doesn't have too much affect, I suppose) and their living costs. These two links cover both areas, so just send them over to your friend and see what they think. Right now, my professor has me focusing on UBC, UA and McMaster, but I'm not super interested in UA yet... It's only been a few hours, so I have to process everything haha.
Right now, I'm going to MUN in Newfoundland, where I'm from. I'm still living from home until I move away for school, so all I pay is tuition/books/transportation and it comes to about $1600 a semester. A friend at work actually moved from Ontario to here for school, because it's so much cheaper. They don't offer an Asian program, but it's a really good school otherwise; it's more sciencey because of the location by the ocean :/
Hmmm that is similar to what I paid this semester but I was able to use a thousand dollar scholar ship this semester and another one for the next. UBC will cost you more than say SFU which has a better Arts field than UBC. SFU for 4 courses full time, including health care, upass(bus pass) and student fees is normal 2100, the number varies say if you have a lab course which means you are getting more credits. I can say I am slightly biased to SFU, but it is the fact they have amazing co-ops and actual exchange programs with Japan, plus they offer Asian Studies. Ontario for school costs a lot. Going to Central Canada for school is expensive.
I was looking at it, and I'm kinda of leaning towards UBC... I couldn't find much on the Asian program at SFU when I tried looking earlier, and UBC has two degrees in the area of Asian Studies; one focusing on language, the other culture.
It seems to be a specialized area, and that's what I'm looking for. But money is a real issue, so, who knows.
You got me thinking about my future.. I'm graduating next year and I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do. I have a friend who's going to continue studying Japanese for a year in Japan after she finishes uni here then possibly find work there. No idea how feasible that plan is.. I hope you list out your options and work things out nicely :)
On to Arashi news, I got my reshipment of bnmf yesterday -_- I know. I wasn't even excited.. And I'm not going to buy this new single.. Don't really like wasting money on cds with a few songs..
Hmm... she can more than likely find a job teaching English. That's pretty much all they think us foreigners can do haha >.< I hope my plans work out, too! I'm now focusing on UBC, but, we'll see c:
That is complete bullshit, I'm sorry. Was it even the First Press Edition, or just regular? And yeah, I gave up buying the singles cause I never ever listen to the things anyway!
It was first press, thank goodness! But I'm never buying from yesasia again if I can help it!
I've heard many Japanese school teachers prefer foreign looking foreigners to teach English.. Well, as least, not Asian looking.. So I might not stand a chance lol, but I don't know how true that is.
Random: I found this blog of a Black man working in Japan, and he has some very interesting encounters with racism there.
Thank jesus it was first press! And yeah, CDJapan has way better service, if you ask me.
Lol, so you're asian? I'm an extremely pale foreigner, so they must see be and be like SHE CAN SPEAK ENGLISH or something haha >.< And I'm sure that if you're a native English speaker, it'll be no problem for a job.
Yeah... the racism in Japan can be pretty harsh. I've heard some horror stories, but, those are usually extremities and not everyone is like that. But I'm fully prepared for some discrimination on their part. I mean, they're not a multi cultural country like Canada, and outsiders and just that, outsiders.
THANK YOU we are pretty bitchin', if I do say so myself c:
