I: The Holidays:* Decorations - The house has been decorated since the day after Thanksgiving, since I have a fake tree and I like to look at a winter wonderland for as long as possible. Olivia has been much more helpful this year, too, and actually put a few ornaments on her tree before getting bored with the whole endeavor. This year she doesn't ( Read more... )

Congratulations on all the weight loss! I'm sorry your doctor's still aren't listening to you. I think as long as we have been friends on here you have insisted there is something more going on with your BP and it seems like seeing no change in it even with your weight loss should confirm that. I would be frustrated too.

And hooray for no more bottles- I know that was a long time coming with y'all, and it sounds like O took it very well. I wouldn't worry too much about the big girl bed and the up/downs. SJ has done fabulously with her big girl bed so far and the plus size of having the convertible crib is that if Olivia isn't ready, you can always put the side back on. =]

Glad you're posting again! It is nice to keep up on FB, but I miss seeing your posts around here.

Thank you! I'm pretty pleased myself, so that's motivation to keep it up! As far as the high BP goes, I'm doing what I can. It's frustrating to hear that it's high because I'm overweight, and then I lose weight, and it's still high and my doctor doesn't want to change my meds or anything. I'll keep on doing what I'm doing, though, and maybe if it's still high at my next visit in four months, and I'm still losing weight, maybe then the doctor will have to consider the fact that my weight isn't the issue ( ... )

Thank you! I'm pleased about the weight loss and hoping to keep it up!

And yes, you can absolutely have pregnancy-induced hypertension! At first I thought that might be the issue, but from what I understand, most of the time it does eventually go back to normal, though not always. I really think it's pretty much due to having had Olivia, and I am getting older, and I do have a family history as well - my mom's mother has high BP, too! We will see how it goes over the next four months until I go back to the doc. I'm not confident that weight loss is going to be the magic cure-all, but I suppose stranger things have happened!

I'm really, really hoping that transitioning Olivia to a toddler bed will go well, but I have a sneaking suspicion that homegirl is NOT going to stay in her bed if there's nothing to stop her getting out!

Well, we shut Olivia's bedroom door at night, and she hasn't yet figured out how to open the doors in our place, so that might keep her in for a while! But yeah, eventually we might need to think about getting an inexpensive baby gate to keep her in when she figures out the door handles!

Congrats on the weight loss and the bottles! OMG, I remember how long Max used to take with his bedtime bottle right before we dropped that one. We actually dropped it BEFORE the mid-morning one (which he kept having until like 17 months) because I was just like, no dude. If it takes you THIS long to drink it, you don't need it that badly. You can have a cup of fucking milk after dinner instead, okay?

How old is Olivia again? Max is 22.5 months and still in a crib. I know Olivia's older than he is, and you give me hope because I want to keep this kid in the crib forever. He loves it, and being in it means he plays by himself after his nap or in the mornings or when he wakes at night until he goes back to sleep. You know, instead of running out of the room or whatever. Not that he knows how to use a door knob yet anyway. Oops. :)

(oops, wrong journal)

Thank you, and thank you! The bottles seem to have been forgotten, so she definitely didn't need them anymore. I'm fine with her drinking less milk now she's older, but I really wanted her to have the nutrition from milk for the first two years. She seems happy to sip on some milk at breakfast, nap, and before bed, and I'm going to work on getting her to do lunch and dinner instead of nap and before bed so that there's only milk at mealtimes at the table ( ... )

Yep, doctors can be pretty shit when you're overweight. Also, I think doctors here in south Florida are shit - I've yet to meet one I like! I do hope that losing more weight might help, but I'm not going to bet on it. We'll see what happens next time I see the doc, in April. If some significant weight loss doesn't improve my BP, maybe she could be persuaded to admit that I just fucking have hypertension!

Also, those pictures are awesome! I'm hoping for another Yo Gabba Gabba live tour stop down this way when Olivia is a bit closer to three - I know she'd love it!
