Everyone was like "It's The Hangover, but for women!" Ugh, NO. I think we laughed exactly twice. Which kind of sucks because I would love to see a comedy written AND directed by AND starring women that's not a sexist piece of shit.

I'd love to stay more than two years in a place :P

If it was a GOOD place, yes! I lived in South Carolina for almost thirty years, though, so south Florida has been a huge culture shock. (Though not as much so as what you've experienced, I imagine!) I don't hate it and I don't love it, and I could stay or leave. Living in another country altogether would be super fun, and is something we talk about.

To be honest, coming to England wasn't TOO much of a culture shock. There are lots of little things, yes, but the common language helps, and Australia and England have a lot more in common culturally (the sort of things people find funny, knowledge of how to use an electric kettle or cricket or the other common things that everybody just knows unthinkingly...) than England does with the US, for example. It's different, and sometimes it's VERY different, but it's not utterly strange.

Coming from Argentina to Australia as a kid was a much bigger deal. I'm kind of expecting the move to SA to be a bigger deal, too - there's going to be a big language gap, since the part of SA we're moving to has very few English speakers!

Yeah, I can't imagine the difference between Argentina and Australia! At least England is similar culturally, but I'll be interested to hear about the move to SA. It sounds like it's going to be an awesome opportunity!

I had heard Bridesmaid was the Best! Movie! Ever! but had hesitated watching it. I suspected I wouldn't find it as funny.

Cute girl :D as usual.

It was awful, Dani, truly. Not funny at all. I seriously think we laughed twice in the two hours we suffered through that movie.

Hee! Thank you. She is kind of the cute, it's true.

I had the same problem with The Hangover. Everyone says how hilarious it is, and I just didn't get it at all

And weirdly, I DID think The Hangover was funny! (The sequel not as much, but even it was still better than Bridesmaids, I thought.) I think they're just not making comedies as funny as they used to, and I say that as someone who loves some truly awful comedies. I like to blame Judd Apatow - I think most of his stuff is terrible, and he's apparently the only one in Hollywood making comedies these days.

Hi, Megan, hi! I haven't seen you around in ages! I saw your post (last week?) and tried to remind myself to pop in and say hello and clearly promptly forgot! I'm glad that things are going well with you, though. Yay for new kitties and new girlfriends! It sounds like you've been super busy and seeing lots of good shows, too. :D

(Did you have my new number in FL? I can't remember! I don't do a lot of texting lately, but I'll check that I have your number still and see if I can send some random fun pictures. I'll definitely make sure I text you so you have the number.)
