So, I have been absent. Let's rectify that without any blathering about how weird and difficult it feels to come back to LJ after almost a month of silence, shall we
( Read more... )
She has gotten so big just in the month or so since I last saw pics of her! Beautiful baby :) Her vocabulary is probably about to just explode, practically overnight...Ethan's definitely did when he was about her age :)
She's definitely starting to look more like a little girl than a baby, which is exciting, but there are a few things I will miss about her being a baby. Her vocabulary is already a little frightening, so I can't imagine what's in store!
I remember Mer had a terrible time with teething too, for both boys we used Humphrey's No. 11. It's non prescription, homeopathic remedy for teething even though you usually have to ask the pharmacist for it. You just give them a tab or two to suck on when they get fussy or dissolve them in their drink.
We also used to simply rub some (children's) liquid Advil or Tylenol on their gums directly to help numb the poor sore tissue and ease the swelling. Those things and plenty of Popsicle sticks, although we did have this silver rattle we'd put in the fridge for them to gnaw on too. We still have it with the teeth marks on it and everything. :D
IMO anything to do with teeth, sucks, especially for the little ones. Hang in there mom! :D
Hmmm. Looks like teething tablets have been in the news rather a lot in the last year and a half or so, and some have been recalled since they contain belladonna, which can be poisonous. I definitely like the idea of something homeopathic over something like ibuprofen, but I'm not sure I'd want to take the risk with teething tablets. Right now we might do the Children's Advil two or three days in a row, just at bedtime, so that she sleeps through, and usually that will sort of reset her sleep pattern so that she'll sleep through four to five nights without meds. She seems fine in the daytime, though, and naps well!
Popsicles, though, those are a must-try! I'll have to see if I can find some good ones for her and give that a go. :D
We are definitely trying to hang in there. I think she's got four more teeth that need to break through the gums, and then we should be okay until the next set of molars!
Thank you! I've been having conniptions about her hair. It's starting to get long, and it's hard to keep it from getting tangled, and like her daddy, it takes ages for the water to get to her scalp when we wash her hair. She's loving the new hair clips, though!
If you say that you don't put up with racism and then agree with other people's racist sentiments, you are at the very least a hypocrite, and at the most, someone who is actually prone to racist thoughts. If you claim to hate sexism and then turn around and call women bitches and whores and judge the choices a woman makes about her own body, you are part of the problem of misogyny.
YES.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way can we take this opportunity to blither about how wonderful Pat Conroy is? I just want to wrap myself up in his books and stay there.
Oh, man. It's getting really fucking hard to bite my tongue on Facebook these days with the crap people post. :\
You know, I have no idea why I resisted reading The Prince of Tides for so many years, especially since I've been reading Beach Music at least twice a year since it came out. I was trying to explain to Leo after I finished reading it why I liked it so much, and I think it's just because you can tell he loves words so much. Sadly, I read one of his wife's books and was not impressed.
