Cut Defense Spending

Everyone agrees that the national deficit is a problem, but there's less agreement about what to do about it. Everyone agrees that you get rid of theoretical deficits by increasing taxes and cutting spending, but getting rid of real deficits by raising real taxes and cutting real spending is somehow a completely different deal ( Read more... )

Bill Maher had a bit semi-close to this topic recently... I don't always love him as much as some do, but I thought he did a good job that night.

I Like this better, though. Guess I'm a chart & graph geek kinda girl. :-)

Funny... While I was on my walk tonight, I was giving serious thought to writing a too-long 'fix the budget' post...

The most popular places to cut the budget also happen to be the least expensive parts of the budget, while the most expensive parts of the budget have the highest support.

Unfortunately, that's logical. If it didn't have so much support, it'd already have been cut.

Note from my fairly conservative friend in lab, which I agree with: America can run a federal surplus so long as we don't get bent on fighting a war.
