Barack Obama is a natural-born citizen
There are some who claim that Barack Obama is not eligible to be President because he is not a natural-born citizen. This is not just utterly wrong - even if we assume that they are right, the internal logic of these claims is still wrong:
Some people say that Hawaii wasn't a state yet when Obama was born there. Is this actually true? No. The Hawaii Admission Act passed in August 1959, two years before Obama was born. But even if this was true, Obama would still be a natural-born citizen because Title 8, §1401(e) allows "a person born in an outlying possession of the United States". Obama would still be a citizen, even if he had been born in the Territory of Hawaii.
Some people (including, allegedly, his grandmother) say that Obama wasn't born in Hawaii at all - that he was actually born in Kenya. Is this actually true? No. But even if he was, Title 8, §1401(g) allows "a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years". Obama might be a dual American/Kenyan citizen, which would still be legal. If you're still not convinced and thinking of taking this to court, Phil Berg has already done so and his claim was dismissed.
Some say that Lolo Soetoro, Obama's stepfather, renounced Obama's American citizenship in order for Obama to attend public school in Indonesia. Is this actually true? No. Parents cannot renounce U.S. citizenship on behalf of their minor children. Even if they could, Obama is current both "natural-born" and "a citizen" so there still isn't a problem.
Some people say that Obama does not have a valid birth certificate. Is this actually true? No. Hawaii Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino has personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate. The embossing isn't visible partly because it's a flat-scanned image and partly because it actually is. Even the right-wing idiots over at American Thinker agree that it's legitimate.
The most surprising thing I've learned while researching this post is that Barack's mother's real first name is Stanley. If you want to claim that Obama isn't a citizen because his parents' secret transgendered same-sex marriage wasn't legitimate you will still be wrong, but I will award you bonus crazy points.
