A moment of seriousness

Sep 26, 2008 07:47

Making fun of Sarah Palin has been fun, but I'd like to be serious for a moment. Do you really want to see that crap on TV for the next four to eight years? Do you really want to see the new Crazy Jeff taking the Oath of Office in the one in five chance that McCain dies in office?

This is not a reality TV show. Donate money if you haven't yet. Donate more if you already have. Reach out to your neighbors. Call your friends in swing states now and make sure they're registered to vote. Take the great schlep to Florida and convince your Jewish grandmother that the nice black man won't disappoint her.

It's not just about voting for Obama, either. Remind your conservative friends and family that the Bush polices McCain has pledged and voted to continue are a betrayal of every small government, low-taxing, thrifty-spending, law abiding, freedom loving, states' rights supporting, science and evidence regarding, strict constitution interpreting plank in the grand old party platform. Suggest that a protest vote for the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party or third party of your choice is exactly the sort of thing that will make the right stronger, better, less crazy, and a voice for genuine reform in the long run. Especially if they let Obama take credit for the bad stuff that's bound to happen over the next four years.

If Obama loses, this is the post I will link back to every time you complain about President McCain or Palin. Let this be a lesson to you. We have 39 days left. Look at this checklist and do something, or enjoy looking at crap like this for 4 more years.
