But Putin would probably be the wrong transliteration from cyrilic to French. In French the "n" would be basically silent so you need to make it something like "Poutine" to make it right.

In fact "vladimir putin" gets 62,300 hits in french on Google while "vladimir poutine" gets 800,000 including the Wikipedia page.
