In an article about a British SAS soldier refusing to fight in Iraq, British Foreign Office minister Kim Howells says:

"People describe Iraq as a mess," he said. "But it is a mess that can't launch an attack now on Iran...

...on the same day that the Pentagon is talking about launching an attack on Iran.

It's also a mess that can't adequately defend itself against an attack from Iran. (Military or political.)

The british put forward some irrational blind leap of faith dogma, and the Americans shut it down as being a sin against the divinity of the Divine Miss W.

There is no Irony Here - it is merely more of the same operant conditioning.

Now half the pro-war crowd will point out that if we were to leave Iraq, then the iranians would invade, and then Iraq would be the central front in the war on secular governments. While the other side will be able to advocate that only by invading Iran can we install a secular government there, so as to protect the Islamic Republic of Iraq from being invaded by Iran.
