On one hand, I doubt they'll be policing the lectures to make sure everyone there has registered. (They're more likely to police the actual "origami teaching" classes.) So if you just showed up to my "origami is hard" talk, it'd probably be OK. The "hybrid unit" class might not be OK, tho.
On the other hand, since you're an MIT student, registering would only cost you $5, and then you can look at the exhibition and go to any other activities that interest you. Plus, I think you'd like the hybrid unit. :-)
I can tell you with 100% certainty that any class taught by Anne LaVin, Michael LaFosse, or Jeannine Mosely will be fun and will likely not be intimidating once they get started. But also, there will be a "model menu" to look at in the exhibition area so you can see what the models being taught look like beforehand. I'm guessing that once you see them, you'll have a better feeling of whether the class would be intimidating or not. But really -- those three people are wonderfully nice and fantastic origami teachers.

Either way, hopefully I'll see you!
