Les jeux sont faits

Here is amassed the idleness of centuries
all ranged about the gilded hall
or filed accessibly in apse and anteroom
in a manner in itself esthetically
gratifying, but destined to be still more
harrmoniously expressive when you have achieved
their final disposition. Begin where you like
and that will be your own Square One.
Continue, then, logically, each choice
determining the next, or an entire sequence of steps,
which may lead, who knows, up to the parapet
or deep into the stacks.
Several operations are now possible
that were unheard of in the founders' days.
Purists eschew them, but there there are many who
eschew the purists. There is no rule but this:
do what you like (and can afford).
Interested in history? You might enjoy the tutorial
that shows how this whole system
began as a simple extrapolation
from the game of Solitaire. Now
there is this virtual cathedral
in which I bid you, pilgrim,
to lose yourself--and any assets you possess!
Enjoy! and now if you'll forgive me
I have other guests.
