In the silver-linings department, the flight I'll be taking that day was quite cheap.

One year I took a flight to Beirut on September 11. (2006 maybe?)

Well, apparently Canadians boarding aircraft will no longer have to remove their footwear unless the metal detector goes "ping!" (With the exception of flights to the paranoid hermit kingdom of Yankeestan, whose regulations are more stringent.)
