oh, i read "7 ways to say I love you" the other night and i was like FLAILY TIME FLAILY TIME! about it. it's really embarrassing to be such a fangirl about Dino/Hibari. *facepalm*

I am so glad I'm not the only one with the reaction to that fic and this pairing in general. I thought I had outgrown the type of embarrassing flailing I do for this pairing! I thought I had actually started developing some taste!

But then along comes the Dino/Hibari fandom and is ACTUALLY KIND OF REALLY WELL WRITTEN and it's like they're trying to drag me back down to hell. ;__;

Delicious, delicious hell with its awesome Hibari fic. ;_____;

that's the hardest thing, not only is this pairing ridiculously popular (which i normally hate) and it reduces me to a babbling fangirl but the fic doesn't help either. cause i didn't think i would find fic that gave me what i wanted with Dino and Hibari but actually there have been some stories (like this one) that pushed the buttons on why i love these two together so much, and that's like "WOW". i have a thing about pairings where there's a huge communication breakdown between the characters but where the relationship works regardless of that, and in my mind Dino and Hibari are living their own reversed version of Gravitation and some fic i've read just nails that and it's a nice surprise, but it also makes it very difficult to be ashamed of shipping this. arg, IDK, my issues with shipping, let me show you them.

I have a lot of similar issues to you when it comes to shipping these two--I have such a fondness for their dynamic (the cheerful one and the cranky one, wow, am I ever easy) and, as you pointed out, they're kind of like a reversed version of Gravitation (speaking of being haunted by my shipping past! and yet I would still go back to them in a heartbeat and without irony, I think that's what gets me the most--there's not really a lot of irony in my shipping).

It would almost be easier if I was genuinely ashamed or if the fandom was truly terrible sometimes (like, oh, some people do marvelous Zoro/Sanji stuff, but the majority? now THERE is a ship I ship with irony because I KNOW IT IS TERRIBLE), but D18 is actually kind of genuinely good sometimes!

AND YET IT COMES FROM THE SILLIEST WJ MANGA JUST ABOUT EVER.

I'm pretty sure this series is, like, the spiritual reincarnation of Tenipuri, come back with a vengeance to make us relive our entire fannish lives in one big karmic circle.

I love him so much. *__* He's always in my favorite pairings in that fandom, I find him to be such an interesting character.
