That One Piece doujinshi is fantastic - it's almost like a brilliantly written fan fiction with the amount of detail and plot it manages to work in. I'm almost sad it's going to end up Zoro/Sanji instead of Zoro + Sanji, although the artist might manage to relationship perfectly and make me just as happy ^_^. I think we got more development in 70 odd pages of this doujinshi than we've got in the actual series for these two in a looong time. Not bitter.

Everything I've read by Yamato (which is, like, three of her doujinshi now >__>) has been really fantastic and totally nailed the One Piece style. I'm not sure how far into Zoro/Sanji territory (versus Zoro + Sanji) she'll take it, but so far everything of hers has been FABULOUS.

And, yeah, I do wish Zoro and Sanji got more interaction in canon (because no one can write like Oda can) but I'm also sort of okay with it, because they get the lion's share of good fic and doujinshi. It's hard to complain that you're not getting enough development when you've got that much fanworks. Like, the rest of the fandom has to be going, "BAWWW, CRY MOAR, go drown your sorrows in your freaking mountain of doujinshi." XDDDDD

(I could gush about the fandom all day--which obviously you cannot tell by this overly long response or anything--because there's just as much Zoro + Sanji as there is ZoSan porn. It's like the fandom fills every need I could ever want and only REBORN! fandom gives me more. *__*)

I am a greedy, selfish cow and must have all my needs met, now ;). I suppose because I'm not IN the fandom anymore and just do big manga catch ups I'm feeling a little deprived, but that can certainly be fixed by catching up on all the fan fiction I've missed (and this is one of the reasons why I heart you!). It's interesting that you mention REBORN!, because I've been hearing complaints about how REBORN! doesn't have character development while One Piece does, and I'm finding it all a bit confusing. I'm a Gokudera fan, and I think that he in particular has had constant and awesome character development and relationship expansion. Between that and all the Kouyuu backstory and current story we're getting at the moment in Saiunkoku (naturally once the anime has ended, arg), I really shouldn't be complaining. Things could certainly be worse ^^.

*laughs* I know what you mean. I haven't been in the OP fandom for awhile, this doujinshi spree has been the closest I've been in ages, so I do feel a little sad that they don't get much development together in the manga. (Though, they had a really awesome moment at the end of the Thriller Bark arc!) And doujinshi is actually a great way to make up for it because some of the artists just NAIL Oda's style. *__*

There are a lot of complaints you could probably make about REBORN! and Amano's writing, I've certainly been impatient or irritated plenty of times myself. (I think the Millefiore arc did not go as well as it could have and I have not been that enthused with the new crop of characters, unlike how I felt with the Kokuyou and Varia arcs.) But there's a lot to be said for Amano's writing, too, and I really like Gokudera's character a lot. ....and Hibari. Holy shit, I love Hibari and I love how Amano writes him.

(a;lsdfkjaslkj of course they give Kouyuu development once the anime has ended. It's like they're trying to ( ... )
