While the St Elsewhere/Homicide hub isn't really under threat, The X-Files is challenging Hi Honey, I'm Home to the number of individual shows linked directly to it. The X-Files has nine series connected to it already ( Read more... )

Does another sighting of Morley Cigarettes count as a link to the X-Files? I'm not sure if you've got "Killer Instinct" up on the grid or not, but according to Wikipedia, Morleys show up in at least two episodes: "Gave Over" and "Epicenter"; in the first they're in the desk of and smoked by Lt. Matt Cavanaugh, in the latter they're in the briefcase of one of the first characters seen.

That would count as a link, yes. Although I've never heard of "Killer Instinct" before. I'm sure I read the name on that Wikipedia page but it never sunk in because I don't know anything about it.

Thanks for reminding us it was there :-)

Okay, along the lines of fictional companies that link TV series to movies...

'Boston Legal' as a spin-off of 'The Practice' which crossed over with 'Ally McBeal' which mentioned the hospital of 'St. Elsewhere' is a part of your Westphallian universe.

This past week, Michael J. Fox started a four episode arc as a multi-millionaire dying of lung cancer who bought his way into an experimental drug test.

The test was conducted by the pharmaceutical company Devlin-McGregor.

This is the same company which ultimately was responsible for the death of Dr. Kimble's wife in the movie "The Fugitive".

Sadly (or happily), we don't do movies :-)

But great bit of trivia anyway!

Just a reminder that "Time Of Your Life" spins off from "Party Of Five", so there's a degree of separation from X-Files.

But... you knew that, I'm sure.

Well, I'm proud to say that I have no instant recall of "Party of Five" trivia - though now that you mention it, yes I do recall the Jennifer Love Hewitt Spin-Off.

This isn't related to anything else, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. Dick Wolf's new series "Conviction" that premiers later this year will star Stephanie March as Alex Cabot, the same character she played on "Law & Order: SVU", despite the fact that this show doesn't have "Law & Order" in its title. So do we have to wait for the show to premier to add it to the grid?

Yes, we do. The pilot needs to air for it to be considered as part of the Westphall universe, although if for some reason "Conviction" isn't picked up as a series and the pilot is aired as an ep of SVU then it doesn't count.

Most likely it is being developed as its own separate series, though (hence no L&O moniker) so if it doesn't go to series it won't easily slip in as an ep of SVU. However it will likely air in some form or other just because it would be a Dick Wolf curio.

I agree that it's very likely it will air. They just showed a preview for it about an hour ago.

Well, that's great, but the update won't appear until it has aired, in any case. We knew that "Joey" was going to air long before it did but it wasn't added to the grid until it premiered in September of 2004. Nothing's a lock until it has debuted.
